FINGERTIP INJURIES

Unfortunately the tips of our fingers are often caught in the fray. Fortunately even partial amputations can be managed well enough for the finger to regain almost normal function. This is achieved by applying an occlusive dressing to the finger and changing it only once a week. The wound forms an exudate which is perfect for the new tissue to grow in (even though it smells). The result is a fingertip with fingerprints and a nail. One could compare it to the the regrowth of a lizards tail.
